I’ve always been a fan of some of the wacky modifications that were done to the cheap cars that Clarkson, Hammond, and May drove in the specials. The Range Rover Classic from the Bolivia special probably being my favorite. If you’ve forgotten what the cars were, here’s some of them, after the A-Team welding sequences:

I’d have to agree with the South America, special. I loved that it showed that putting big tires on a car, F’s it up. Alternatively the Africa special, because Richard basically does absolutely nothing to Oliver... because he did not have to.

dont know if it was a cue the music moment, but the original boat cars, with the toyboata, and the vw houseboat van, and the sailboat car that may built was one of my favorites.......

love it when oliver sank, and hammond is calling out to his car, almost crying “OLIVUUUUUUUR!!!!”

Lol, I agree the Bolivia special was my favorite. No gearing + altitude + big tires + 25-30 year old engines = you’re gonna have a bad time

I still to this day genuinely want to build my own toyboata. Like, that was actually a really good idea.

I always loved the ones where they convert the cars for live-in overlanding, like the wagons in the Africa special or the lorries in the Burma special.

The Toyboata came to my mind as well. Also when Richard didn’t actually change anything about Oliver.

Man, I loved Oliver.

Oh god, the Renault Espace Convertible. When they went through the car wash....

around that time i had stumbled across one of the cuban boat trucks that they had sunk. it was only a few miles off shore when they had discovered it, and it was just an old inline, with a pto driven prop, and the pontoons, and a nose on it......... this is what i would build. seats 12-15.......

When (at least according to the storyline) Jeremy got all those Vietnamese locals to paint Richard’s bike pink.
That episode is still the greatest of all time, Grand Tour included.

It doesn’t really f it up if you do it right. It f’s it up when you do it to a stock RR with a questionable history

On a related note, what was that song?

I would say my favorite cars were the Patagonia cars, but before the “workshop”
My favorites after the “workshop” would have to be the Bolivia special.

That would be the A-Team’s intro theme.

Honestly, I think I prefer the Mustang post-workshop. The exo-cage works on it.

I always forget about the Vietnam Special! Such a shame because it really is a good episode.

Yeah, I guess I was just more disappointed in Jeremy at that point. He could have done better work and Hammond could have fixed the Mustang in the first place.

The Patagonia Episode was what made me change my mind on the 928. Before my opinion was “It tried to replace the 911, it’s ugly, meh!” but then I kinda just got it after. So, I agree I was disappointed to see what Jeremy had done to it. And then I just felt bad for the three cars after the incident.

Yeah... I hate my particular 928, but I like most

The ones I like are the ones that actually seemed to make sense/seemed genuinely like spur of the moment things rather than just silliness for silliness’ sake.
Bolivia, Vietnam, Botswana.
